Abstract

The author analyses the irruption of new technologies in the production of books and the impact of these procedures on readers, focusing in detail on media such as CD-ROMs.

Author Biography

Carmen Espejo-Cala, Sevilla University

Carmen Espejo Cala holds a PhD in Philology from the University of Seville. She has been a lecturer in History of Communication and Journalism at the University of Seville since 1992.

Between 2013 and 2016 she chaired the International Society for the Study of Event Relations (SIERS). She has been Deputy Coordinator of the Inter-University Doctoral Programme in Communication at the universities of Cadiz, Huelva, Malaga and Seville (2016-2019).

She has also been Coordinator of the Master's Degree in Communication and Culture and Director of the journal I/C. Revista Científica de Información y Comunicación. She was editor, together with Roger Chartier, of the volume La aparición del periodismo en Europa. Comunicación y propaganda en el Barroco (Marcial Pons, 2012). She is a contributor to the volume coordinated by Joad Raymond and Noah Moxham News Networks in Early Modern Europe (Brill, 2016), the result of her participation in the European network of the same title. He has published articles in prestigious journals such as European Review, Media History, Studies on Voltaire and the Eighteenth Century (SVEC), El Profesional de la Información, etc.
