Abstract

Most of the mass media written as well as audio-visual already have a sitio in internet and so do the new and exclusive digital ones. Yet in only these past few years all have experienced how difficult it is to obtain and mantain the audience as well as to keep economically profitable. Moreover changes are taking place in the way work is carried out in journalism and in relation with its sources and in its readers. University teaching of Journalism should offer its students this reality and the guidelines to practise with competence now and in the future their profession.

Author Biography

Concha Edo Bolós, Complutense University of Madrid

She is a full professor at the Complutense University, through a national qualification process, and is accredited by ANECA for access to the teaching body of University Professors. She was also a lecturer at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and has carried out research stays as a visiting scholar at various British and American universities.


She has published forty articles in scientific journals, three individual books, one of them with four editions, and more than twenty chapters as author in collective works. She has participated in more than fifty national and international conferences (USA, UK, Turkey, South Africa, Portugal, Mexico, Ireland, India, Holland, Greece, France, Chile, Canada). He has three six-year research fellowships and directs the Research and Analysis of the Internet in Journalism Group at the Complutense University of Madrid, which has been positively evaluated in all the calls for papers since its foundation. She has previously directed and currently directs as PI competitive R+D+i projects funded by the Ministry of Economy, and has participated as a researcher in other projects of the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Ministry of Education and Teaching Innovation.


She is director of the academic journal Textual&Visual Media, member of the Scientific Committee of different peer reviewed journals and of the Editorial Board of the website "Sala de Prensa" with collaborators from 41 countries and fifty-five thousand followers on Twitter. She was president of the Spanish Society of Journalism from 2010 to 2014 and is now president of the European and American Society of Journalism.
