Quality control of the treatment given by the media to the information they publish is increasingly necessary. A study carried out on the handling of justice issues in six of the main Colombian newspapers, reveals that they have neglected their analytical and guiding function to dedicate themselves to the simple recording of the facts, which are based largely on official sources and that in more times than desired they avoid identifying the source of the information. For this reason, journalistic companies are required to review the information processing processes and issue clear policies to modify current journalistic routines, otherwise they will be doomed to loss of credibility and, therefore, of readers.
