The outline we are going to follow to develop this subject is simple but, even so, we consider it to be the most convenient: we will first outline the ultimate intention of institutional editions; we will then go on to note the advantages or positive aspects that derive from this ultimate intention, and then continue with the negative aspects that appear as a consequence of the existence of this type of publication; we will briefly discuss what we have called here "mixed editions" and, finally, draw some conclusions from all of this.
