Abstract

As the 20th century draws to a close, it would be unwarranted to question the degree of prominence acquired by the media in Western nations. Undeniably linked to the evolution of mankind since its first expressions, it is, nevertheless, since the last century when this link acquires decisive dyes; an alliance that highlights the very denomination of our era as the "information age". From the aforementioned premise, the aim of this paper is to analyse one of the most attractive - as well as problematic - aspects of communication: the origin of its manifestations.
