Privacidad: cómo se entiende y se gestiona en Facebook. Estudio de caso de jóvenes chilenos

os usuarios de Facebook comparten continuamente variada información, incluyendo datos personales hasta su localización física. Dichas prácticas alteran el concepto de privacidad, pues los datos permanecen disponibles para los contactos pero son también muchas veces de acceso público.
Metodología. Este artículo analiza el modo en que adultos jóvenes (25-34 años), en Chile, concilian la difusión de información personal a través de Facebook con el cuidado de su privacidad. Mediante un estudio de caso se entrevistó en profundidad a 20 jóvenes de Concepción. Resultados y conclusiones. Los resultados muestran que los jóvenes seleccionan con cuidado la información que podrán consultar sus contactos y adoptan diferentes estrategias para proteger su información personal y definir quiénes accederán a contenido específico. En concordancia y dado ese sentido de control que consideran tener sobre la información que comparten, estos jóvenes no perciben una amenaza a su privacidad social (vigilancia social), pero desconfían y sienten amenazada su privacidad institucional (vigilancia institucional).
