Abstract

This communication will focus on the presentation of the results of a survey carried out at the beginning of March 1996 among 244 Canarian adolescents of both sexes (121 girls and 123 boys), who were studying in the 6th year of Primary School, and 70 and 8th years of EGB (Basic General Education), or 1st and 2nd years of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education) in the public schools "Aguamansa", "Princesa Tejina" and "Hermanos García Cabrera", on the island of Tenerife.

Manuel Marrero Morales, University of La Laguna

Teacher specialising in Social Sciences and Secondary School Teacher of Spanish Language and Literature (retired). Former headmaster of IES Tacoronte-Óscar Domínguez. Graduate in Information Sciences (journalism) from the ULL.

He was involved in the founding of STEC and UCSTE, INTERSINDICAL CANARIA and the Canary Islands Summer School. He was a member of the School Council of the Canary Islands and a contributor to various media. He collaborates in the coordination of the Canary Islands Assembly of Elected Officials of the left. President of the Agustín de Bethencourt Forum. Member of the Plataforma por un Nuevo Modelo Energético (Platform for a New Energy Model). Member of the Frente Cívico Somos Mayoría and the Colectivo Prometeo.
