Public media and digital ecosystem

Public media and digital ecosysteml

Public broadcasting has played an essential role in the development of current media systems, especially in Europe. However, the current media ecosystem relegates these public agents to the background, diluting their presence in a saturation of digital content. However, the presence of an independent, quality public audiovisual service at the service of citizens and democracy is today more important than ever to face social challenges such as misinformation and polarization.

This call for papers invites the research community to submit their papers on the role of the public media in different international, national or regional contexts. In this sense, this issue seeks to collect research that addresses different dimensions of the public audiovisual service, from the diagnosis of its situation in the current digital ecosystem to its adaptation processes to adapt to the new production and consumption dynamics, passing through its public value, its innovation strategies and its legitimacy in the face of contemporary society.
