Abstract

The world of the media reaches the third millennium marked by a double and simultaneous global-local trend. This phase of great transformations of the last half of the 20th century, which advances hand in hand with current technologies and the economy, has led us to a more globalized society in which there is a revaluation and a rediscovery of the local. Global and local constitute the two sides of the same coin, which symbolizes the communication hypersector.

Author Biography

Xosé López García, University of Santiago de Compostela

Xosé López García, Professor of Journalism in the Department of Communication Sciences at the University of Santiago de Compostela, PhD in History and journalist, coordinates since 1994 the research group "Novos Medios" (GI-1641 NM), which has among its lines of research the study of digital media, audiovisual public service, the analysis of the impact of technology on communication and the monitoring of the transformations in the communication ecosystem.
