Abstract

n this article we distinguish the speeches used by actors involved in terrorist actions (either actively or passively) and that are picked up by the media. Valuing as discourse the sum of different arguments that make up a general narrative, we carry out a theoretical approach and an analysis proposal in order to identify the discourses of terrorists and governments. First of all, we carry out a brief review of the existing bibliography, emphasizing previous analytical models. Next, as a prologue to our theoretical proposal, we outline the definitions of mediated terrorism and discursive framework. Finally, and as the central axis of the article, we present the general narratives of the terrorists and the governments respectively. In short, we approach terrorists and institutions by speaking, issuing messages that reflect the map of institutional forces.
