Tourism and audiovisual fiction are key industries in Spain due to their economic and cultural relevance. Research shows that films and TV series shape destination images, travel motivations, and tourist experiences, making audiovisual fiction a strategic tool for destination marketing. It can help reduce seasonality, diversify visitor flows, and promote lesser-known destinations, although it may also cause negative social and environmental impacts. This monographic issue aims to disseminate research on film- and TV-induced tourism, focusing on tourist experiences, destination impacts, marketing strategies, public policies, and the role of audiovisual narratives in fostering more sustainable tourism models.
