Abstract

The cinema, although it has come to impregnate contemporary life in such a way until it becomes consubstantial to our time, is a young invention, in full technical and artistic evolution.

The first public cinematographic projection, with 35 spectators, took place in the Indien salon, from the basement of the Grand Café, located on Boulevard des Capucines, nº 14, in Paris. It was on December 28, 1895 and ten short films of 16 meters each offered by the brothers Louis and Auguste Lumière were screened. The seventh art was born, a new medium that would revolutionize the world of entertainment: cinema.
